  <description>New Delhi: Mrs. Ambika Soni, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Government of India inaugurated the annual conclave of India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB) at Ashok Hotel, New Delhi. She said “The world market in conference and convention tourism is estimated to be around US$ 130 billion per year, yet India accounts for not even 1% share of this huge market. Secretary, Ministry of Tourism Mr. A. K. Mishra said the Ministry of Tourism recognized ICPB as a nodal agency for getting clearances with regard to holding of conventions. He assured all support of the Ministry to the members of the Bureau. Mr. Rajiv Talwar, Additional Director General Tourism and Chairperson of ICPB said that the Bureau is a unique initiative in private-public partnership. Captain Swadesh Kumar of Shikhar Travels, Vice Chairman of ICPB gave an overview of ICPB’s activities. This year 53 overseas travel agents and tour operators specializing in MICE and 260 conferences organizers from India attended the conclave. A tradeshow accompanied the conclave this year. The Secretary of the ICPB, Mr. Rajeev Kohli of Creative Travels made a detailed presentation about the world scenario of the MICE tourism and the potential and possibilities India to tap this huge market.</description>
